 BLOG AUGUST 3

To go along with my earlier blog post on how much things cost in Malawi I had someone request to know what wages are like. So here are some wages I have found, sorry there isn't more but I don't feel comfortable asking a lot of people their wages. They are in Malawian Kwacha and on a monthly basis's, net and gross vary.

This was in a village, one kid got the guts to shake my hand and greet me.  Then about another dozen had to do the same and I couldn't stop smiling.

This is near a school where we promote hygine and sanitation.

This is at the lake at sundown.

Sorry for not posting- Heres a post.

Blog June 17

I just got back from Ntchisi where Jenna is stationed.

When I got back from Lilongwe I spent most of the week back with the first family I stayed with. So since that co-worker moved to Lilongwe I had to find somewhere else to move to on Friday. I ended up moving all my stuff over to Mary's house. She is working on the same project I am but for a different NGO. She lives with her 12 year old nephew during the week and on weekends she goes to Lilongwe to visit her husband and kids. But as soon as I left my things at Mary's I left for Ntchisi. On my way there I was riding a bike taxi and I was hit by another bike taxi. Nothing serious but sort of funny considering the main transport within Salima is bikes. So it is a 2.5 hour drive and I went with the NGOs vehicle from Salima then transferred to the Ntchisi vehicle once reaching Lilongwe. Long story short the 2.5 hour drive took 7 hours.
